Soon Love & Bike Tour Perugia-Roma and other initiatives for diabetes

Now there are less than a week. 6 and 7 September a small group of diabetic cyclists (including myself) will start from Perugia to Rome with the racing bike: the Changing Diabetes & Love Bike Tour 2008! The mini-tour around 200km is being devoted to couples with passion and love can also be found riding together and sharing the adventure of diabetes. Someone attending nicely in tandem! But other cyclists (including me) will be accompanied by loved ones, which participating without pedaling: carry out the important activities to support the organization of the group to which they belong, and especially to encourage their halves. Not to mention the exceptional technical and medical staff to follow! The tour is relatively short, but the climbs will not miss making the ride interesting in terms of cycling ...

There will be an opportunity to give greater visibility to the initiative and media messages about diabetes that it brings: the day after our arrival at the bike 's September 8 in Rome will open an important international congress of diabetes EASD. Also participated as a cyclist with diabetes at the inauguration of Changing Diabetes Village organized by Novo Nordisk near the Imperial Forum, during the visit to Italy Diabetes Bus, which tours around the world for years. I bring the experience of the Youth Panel. The press conference will present the institutional authorities with diabetes and sports personalities. Finally at the Ara Pacis are presented the results of the DAWN Youth.

What can I say ... sounds like a great experience! We hope to have fun as friends and as couples to ride together as lovers of bikes, and to pass something good to others as people with diabetes. Cyclists in the Road Bike Tour 2006 in Strasbourg

In 2006 a group of seven Italian cyclists with diabetes has reached a great goal: to go from Italy to Holland by bike, in just 7 days. Well, I was there between them! A new positive message has toured Europe, and it was a victory achieved on diabetes: a fantastic experience. The European adventure of crossing was part of the Changing Diabetes campaign: further information on the site of Road Bike Tour 2006 .

After two years I have taken up the diary I wrote in those days, I've reorganized and settled for good, ready for publication is downloadable below. I think it's important to spread as much as possible such experiences, not to forget, not wasting its efforts, and since they can be an inspiration for many others. Think of those days the emotions are still strong: even the effort was great! But the awareness of doing something important, together with a group of friends in my same condition, had given me the inner strength to continue and ride with all the work possible.

This article inaugurates Sunt Diabetes Blog! It will be a natural space to share experiences, convey emotions, make proposals, to witness events, promote projects, communicate news ... Soon the site will be enriched by all this and more on diabetes. Happy surfing by all the editing!
