The 'Association for Helping Young People with Diabetes in Mantua (AAGD) has organized a charity party! The volunteer needs to raise funds to finance its activities, and this is a great opportunity available to the association NPO dedicated to children and children with diabetes, supporting numerous projects for them. Furthermore, the festive character of the evening makes it particularly suitable for young people, with the hope of creating greater awareness about diabetes attracting the attention of many people about this issue, even through entertainment. This kind of activity can be an inspiration for similar initiatives in other voluntary associations.

The evening will be held Saturday, April 4th, 2009 at the local LUDAS via Oberdan in Mantua. The start is scheduled at 19:30 with music by DJ Zachi break dance and show up at 21:00. 21:30 to 24:00, the evening continues with live music groups Out of Place, Overboard, Ixwa. During the festival there will also be an exhibition of paintings by Denis Guerrato Mantua. The price for entry is 5 euros, which as we have said is intended to fund activities for youth with diabetes. The title of the evening is Rock Ludas Saturday Night Live.

The evening was organized with the collaboration of many members and volunteers who have dedicated their time, relying above all on the patronage of the town of Mantua.

New techniques for Sunt Diabetes and subscription to the blog via email

It is time for new technical blog Sunt Diabetes. They have done some work on the computer site, and others are still in progress: I apologize for any errors or problems presented to visitors. These experimental services, thus may not work perfectly. In this regard, any report or comment is always welcome!

An important novelty is the possibility to subscribe to the blog via email, that is, the possibility of receiving a message for each new article published in order to stay current and not miss anything. To subscribe in this way, or for more information including on RSS feeds (which have now been upgraded), visit subscriptions or register .
When inserting a comment to an article you can now choose whether to be updated for each next to your comments, so you can be updated on the progress of the discussion and any replies to your comment: just check the box next to the module Comment.
Also new is the availability of translation of the site in several major languages, as you can see in the sidebar: it is a machine translation, so the results will not be optimal and are not completely under control.
You have set a cache system, which should allow a much faster rate using the site.
The graphics on the side bar has been revamped and optimized.
There is a new system of contacts via email, more efficient than the previous one.
Added the ability to perform a web search using Google engine, restricted to some sites specializing in diabetes, returning clear results and quality go to look for .

Other actions will include the creation of blogs and other services (including a wiki) Sunt.it on the network, plus there will be an update of the graphical theme of the blog.

As you can see the site's development blog is always open to offer a better service ...

The meeting of the Youth Panel of young people with diabetes in Rome

The Italian Youth Panel (a group of young men determined to build a better future for diabetes) was found in Rome, 5 to 7 March 2009. Thursday 5 attended the diabetes with politicians in the Senate Health Commission, as I had already spoken in another article . The next two days the group of young people with diabetes participated in a course of investigating various issues of diabetes, also planning its future activities.

Friday, March 6 The morning began with the introduction of the Youth Panel being held by Aurora Ketmaier, president of JDRF Italy, which also presented the program together with Cesare Muratore and Guido Seu.

Soon after Dr. Federico Serra, public affairs manager at Novo Nordisk Youth Panel spoke del'Italian in general, tracing the history of the project since its inception in 2007 when a group of young people has been proposed to represent the diabetes in young people since then have followed numerous meetings with participation in various important events. Some were overcome difficult times together, reaching today a stable, established and mature, ready to face the great challenges of diabetes in the future. It was a great moment of reflection, remembering that the Italian project of the Youth Panel was strongly right by Federico Serra, along with a good board of experts, and the support of JDRF and Novo Nordisk.

Subsequently Dr. Alfonso La Loggia has started the course itself, presenting the scenario on diabetes and the Italian legislative issues related to it: the law n. 115, 1987, disability, assistance, driver's license ... An Italian situation complex, which in some points of view contains innovative ideas and examples in the global scenario, but also has many flaws and shortcomings, especially as regards the failure of many of the practical application principles. On March 5, 2009 in Rome there was an important ceremony on diabetes in the Senate in the Senate. In the press room of the Senate was held a press conference where, in front of journalists, politicians have spoken, doctors, representatives of associations and companies. Diabetes has been exposed as a major problem to be addressed urgently in the interests of all citizens and the institutions themselves. He spoke mainly about the prevention and treatment of type 2 diabetes, linked to obesity, growing more frequent and disturbing even in young children. Inactivity and poor nutrition are key determinants of the phenomenon in question, which is described by the neologism "Diabesity". In the young we must focus on proper upbringing, education, sport on the world.

Just a young man, Simon Donadello, has had the wonderful opportunity to speak briefly of his experience in a positive way with type 1 diabetes, and experience with the 2007 UN International Youth Panel during the first World Diabetes Day recognized by the Resolution on Diabetes.

The conference was presented by the journalist, war reporter and anchorman Franco Di Mare, very attentive to the problems of diabetes. As for the politicians were present, and the Honourable Senators Antonio Tomassini (XII Hygiene and Health Commission President of the Senate), Ignazio Marino, Paola Binetti, Emanuela Baio, Ferruccio Fazio. For the diabetes world, professional and business associations were: Adolfo Archangels (Diabetes Italy), Mark Hood (SIEDP), Francesco Chiarelli (ESPE), Dario Jafusco (SIEDP), Aurora Ketmaier (JDRF Italy), Sergio Leotta ( Pertini Hospital of Rome), Lorenzo Mastromonaco (Novo Nordisk), Gabriele Riccardi (SID), Maurizio Vanelli (University of Parma), Federico Serra (Novo Nordisk).

During the conference there was the official signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the 'Parliamentary Association for the protection and promotion of the right to prevention, Diabetes and Novo Nordisk Italy, with the hope that this is a starting point for achievement of concrete benefits for people with diabetes: an important collaboration between Italian politics and the world of diabetes is already taking place through the Changing Diabetes Barometer project (see www.changingdiabetesbarometeritaly.com ).
