Each with his own hand can reach the top and way over the pass, perhaps leaving a little 'forces to observe the beautiful scenery that surrounded us. Blood glucose for all cyclists with diabetes has been a key variable in the race: who went to hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia in people ... The most important thing is to convey the message to all people with diabetes that is all possible, participate in cycling races harder: we gave the testimony that you just have a good self-control and always travel with a glucometer and insulin on hand, so that they can manage better. During the race I managed to keep the blood sugar to optimal levels, due to adjustments of the insulin pump and continuous glucose sensor: only part of the race was relatively low blood sugar, which I remedied by integrating with biscuits and sugar. The Manifesto of the Rights of People with Diabetes is part of a process of dialogue and exchange between institutions and the world of diabetes has been particularly intensified in recent years, showing a growing interest of policy on these issues. Lantus scandal: the suspicion of cancer and the economic interests of insulin

In recent days the world of diabetes has unleashed an earthquake: a study published June 26 in Diabetes, journal of the EASD, has highlighted a possible carcinogenic effect of Lantus, ie, insulin glargine. The famous and expensive insulin similar that allows anyone with diabetes to control blood sugar using a baseline profile of 24 hours (or almost) with one injection per day would therefore be dangerous to health, even if the conditional is obligatory .

Cartucce di insulina Lantus A survey of 127 000 diabetic patients in Germany have shown that those who use the Lantus regularly has 31% more chance of developing cancer within 1 year and a half, and that risk is proportional to the amount of Lantus taken daily. Similar studies conducted in Sweden, Scotland and the UK have partially confirmed the results, although there are some conflicting data. The FDA has opened an investigation to look into it.

This is preliminary research that is certainly deepened with further studies before reaching a definitive answer, as the authors themselves have admitted the scientific publication. However great was the confusion triggered by the news, along with the sensation exploded in diabetes. But most importantly it is great dismay through the many people with diabetes using the insulin, which require quick and reliable answers. It is however important to remember that patients treated with Lantus, must not discontinue treatment without the consent of your physician diabetologist.

Even from a financial standpoint, there is a stock-market crash of Title Sanofi-Aventis: French pharmaceutical company that produces Lantus has lost more than 7% in one day of publication of the study. Sanofi Aventis is the same multinational that only a few days before the outbreak of the scandal Lantus "announced the production of vaccine against the famous" flu ", also known as swine flu.

Immediately after the collapse of the stock market, Sanofi Aventis has seen fit to issue a series of press, with which it intends to ensure that in reality the Lantus is safe and that there is no link with cancer, challenged the method used by researchers in the study recently published. The question that arises is: "who" wanted to reassure the heads of Sanofi Aventis? Physicians who prescribe Lantus? Or maybe the shareholders who buy the securities? The fear is that people forget. Because the money and interests revolve around these topics are many, even many, would that not the main concern was to make sure the sales and the capital, before the actual safety of this drug. But diabetics are really more important than money? Continue reading 'Lantus Scandal: suspected cancer and the economic interests insulin'
