On 14 November, as every year, we celebrate the GMD: World Diabetes Day and this year the Youth Pannel Italian boys found themselves in Rome to participate actively in events (the year before the appointment was in Perugia ). Upon arrival on November 13, after the space reserved for greetings, started the discussion "at the table" of new developments in diabetes.
The agenda included a discussion on the first GMD and the role of the panelists during the outreach activities planned for the next day. Then we analyzed the "Manifesto of the rights of people with diabetes," a list of points that summarize the needs of all persons with diabetes. Finally, was presented the new project of Novo Nordisk, which aims to help children with diabetes sub-Saharan countries in serious economic difficulties.
In the evening the boys have watched the show "The island that is" by Renato Giordano Tordinola at the theater, a magnificent performance, but dramatic at times almost ironic, that tells the tortuous and difficult road traveled by Dr. Banting and Best looking aide of therapy for diabetes: the 'insulin. A favorite panelist, this first part of the story gave the opportunity to learn about the history of man that enabled them to lead a life serene and uncomplicated.
The next day, stand in Piazza San Lorenzo, the panelists were employed to provide information on diabetes and to interview passersby to detect opinions, doubts and knowledge about diabetes. A real success for the boys, who have been enthusiastic and willing, from nine to eighteen were employed to make people aware of this problem continues to expand, providing useful advice to those who harbored any doubts about it, from 'power to' physical activity.
Exhausted but satisfied with their success, the day when the children are divided into their homes scattered throughout the Boot: Milan, Mantua, Naples, Caserta ... all conscious of having done their best to win the battle against diabetes.

Well, we did very well in Perugia during this event. Of the two days devoted to the initiative, the second (the cycling rally) remains the most significant for me. Being in many cyclists, with and without diabetes, being a representative group, strong in the area has been a great success.
Hello Andrea, thanks, and congratulations on these days of success in Perugia, of which I could feel the positive atmosphere just by reading your stories. Sorry to be missed: my heart was with you, although I was busy in the streets of Rome to do with raising the children of the youth panel, which was important and enjoyable learning experience. I missed riding with that group of friends from whom was born C & D, that the onset of my diabetes has opened my eyes to a new world and a positive way of living one's condition through sport.
Maybe next!

Simon ..., we are many, from different and distant cities, with many different ideas, many different capacities, sensibilities, ways of thinking, ...
The differences can sometimes also create differences, but what could separate us will never be as strong as that which unites us: the passion for cycling.
And that is exactly what I want to talk. The rest-I am sure-change and improve themselves.
I ask you to bring a greeting to your loved ones, especially your father. Have a good day.
Simon did a great job, along with the youth panel of young people, raise awareness in the streets, with many people who have passed away and at their gazebo, diabetes, particularly among young people.
Gratitude and congratulations to all these wonderful kids that are testimonial, an international project volunteers, arrived in Italy for years, for a complex disease, yet little known and valued, despite the attention it deserves for the increasing incidence.
Andrea, you're right: it is important to overcome the difficulties keeping in mind our goals, that is fighting for the future of diabetes with our passion for cycling. And above all, friends and staying together. I'll have your greetings, you will definitely reciprocated! Thank you, hello!
Dear Aurora, thanks to you that you fight always for the noble cause of research in diabetes. And thank you for this special project of the Youth Panel also exists because of your will and determination. The road is still long, I hope you will continue to be great successes of our young people with diabetes! We will succeed if we get involved to innovate with originality and sincerity ... next time!
