There are still many prejudices and problems that surround diabetes: to correct information by raising public awareness is very important. Associations, institutions, international organisms: all are taking care of that issue by the UN to national governments. Even companies such as Novo Nordisk (insulin leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in the world) are increasingly attentive to the social problem of diabetes, which is spreading increasingly throughout the world, takes on the character of a pandemic.
In this context, in 2007 I myself have participated in several activities in the field of diabetes. Among them there were also several important international events, which I was involved as a young man with diabetes, sport and member of the Youth Panel. Here are the main activities in which I took part in the second half of the year 2007:
- a visit to some sites of Novo Nordisk in the North of Europe, presenting to professionals a concrete experience of people with diabetes
- participation at a conference in Berlin as the DAWN Youth Ambassador and witness of young people with diabetes within the international study DAWN
- the writing of my article to be published in a book on diabetes and UNICEF sport, created to finance a project for the benefit of children in Congo
- participation in the World Diabetes Day in New York with the 'International Youth Panel at the first celebration on the approval of the United Nations Resolution on diabetes at the headquarters of the' United Nations, the Headquarters
