Along with some major changes coming in 2010 'Association of Italian cyclists with diabetes: the Diabetes & Cycling voluntary group is ready to deal with energy events of the new season!
First of all there was the unveiling of the official website of C & D: www.ciclismoediabete.it . This important tool was more necessary than ever: now that the association is becoming more authority and reputation needed a dedicated space and a direct address to reference in order to gather and share experiences.
Since its inception, our blog Sunt Diabetes did his little part to communicate in "spontaneous" news, events, statements Cycling and Diabetes (it shows a rich collection of articles that speak of ). We will continue to do so with pleasure, telling our point of view and working with the new official website!
The site is available new statute Cycling & Diabetes NGO, which contains the principles that inspired the association's activities. Guerra returns to be president of C & D (after be was in the early years): in 2009 the office was covered by David Panichi ... So a special thanks to him for the work done, and we wish the new president, even if the spirit of the group we certainly will move together, each doing their part!
Another new feature is the 'association membership: to bring order to the many participants Cycling & Diabetes (We are more than 100) it was decided to prepare a special form. Just visit the Campaign accessions 2010 and completed its data to enter the ranks of C & D and to subscribe to the newsletter, keep up with all the news. Are you a cyclist? You have diabetes mellitus? Do not miss it, subscribe now! 
Finally, the program for the new year so here is all the events . The main official events, already tested in previous years, will be:
- the Granfondo Davide Cassani in Faenza on March 20 to 21
- will be covered the 12th stage of the Tour of Italy on May 18-19-20 in Città Sant'Angelo (Perugia)
- the most important event, the fifth National Championship for elite cyclists with diabetes (Trophy Changing Diabetes) at the Biella Alps Granfondo on 10-11 July 2010 in Biella
- the Granfondo Straducale July 25 in Urbino
- the III National Championship MTB 2-3 October Bieno Valsugana (TN)
- and to close the loop-gathering of the World Diabetes Day on 13-14 November in Perugia.

!!! "-2 Days" to Nov. 14: we have now ... In less than 48 hours will leave the world the World Diabetes Day! About a month ago I had already spoken on this blog in a previous article ...
I recommend it, spread the news as much as possible, and attend events organized in your city to know where and when events will take place please contact your local clubs! Will the commitment of all, because this World Diabetes Day will be an important opportunity to discuss the problem "diabetes," the first step to try to improve the lives of many, too many people with diabetes worldwide.
Here are some activities that take place in coming days:
- In Rome there will be a great event for young children from the activities of 'English youth panel. A group of young people from across Italy it will meet November 13 to 15 in the capital to study and make people aware of the issues of UN Resolution on Diabetes and the Manifesto of the Rights of People with Diabetes According among people in the youth panel Village organized by them. In fact, it turns moments learning moments of exposure in the gazebo Changing Diabetes. I will be there!
- A doctor in a comment in the previous article we report that such Olevano Romano will conduct a blood glucose screening. Similar activities will be proposed in Trento in Piazza Duomo by ATD. In Mantua, the association will AAGD testing of blood glucose throughout the day in Piazza Marconi, 14, also distributing informational material to raise public awareness. Virgil is right in town to report the collaboration with local institutions, through the lights blue of the Town Hall of Mantua Via Roma, scheduled at 18: many monuments will be illuminated in blue in the world, as the blue circle is the symbol and color of diabetes that unify all initiatives. Always in Mantua on 16 and 23 November will be a conference on "expectations and rights of diabetes in society" ( more here ).
- On the sporting side in Perugia on November 15 will be held for second time, the Changing Diabetes Day Bike through collaboration between the association and NGO Cycling & Diabetes Novo Nordisk, similar to ' 2008 edition . This event will involve cyclists with and without diabetes who want to ride to Assisi bringing messages of diabetes living positively with physical activity and health ( more here ).
... But these are only examples: the work will be thousands, across Italy and throughout the world!

We have now. Between exactly one month, November 14, 2009 will be celebrated around the world World Diabetes Day. On this blog we talked about often: for example, see this previous article .
Like all years, people with diabetes can be heard loudly, with their testimonies and demands, their problems and hopes. The World Diabetes Day, sponsored originally by the IDF today is a celebration officially recognized by a UN resolution, and enjoys the patronage of many local, national and international, with a spread in all countries of the world.
Many initiatives planned to bring to the fore some important issues: the prevention, treatment and rights of diabetes. A local associations organize thousands of gazebo and meeting places in city squares to disseminate correct information among the people and to test blood sugar levels by making screening. Coordination with local authorities will be illuminated in blue hundreds of monuments to attract attention because of the color of diabetes, or are organized walks along the city streets with banners and balloons blue. All this will happen in Italy for many years at the forefront of these activities in support of diabetes, although some activities may be postponed to Sunday 15 for organizational convenience.
Many events will be proposed to transmit positive values that motivate many people with diabetes. For example, on November 15 in Perugia again the ride will be dedicated to diabetes cycling: Cycling & Diabetes Associates along with many other supporters also passing through an impressive journey to Assisi. Although I had participated the past year (see the ' article ) supporting the importance of exercise in diabetes.
This year I will not be in Perugia, but will attend the World Diabetes in Rome, where 13 to 15 November there will be celebrations and activities with the group of the Youth Panel, which brings together children with diabetes from all over Italy, representing a great opportunity to coordinate initiatives of youth. The fatigue cycling in two halves ... will you? 
Let's ask those who now ride in pairs a year to bring the message of diabetes everywhere, even on the hardest and most difficult peaks: David Panichi and Michela Šišan both have diabetes, and have decided to combine their love of cycling. Riding together on a tandem are testament to a happy and positive approach to life and all it has, including diabetes.
It all started during the Love & Bike Tour of 2008, we reported on this blog: Here . In July 2009 David and Michele have reached the hard Stelvio Pass at the Mapei Day in Bormio, together with another courageous rider pink C & D: Chiara Andreola. Also increasingly participating in tandem with cycling champion with Diabetes of Urbino with another large scale, that of Monte Nero.

Urbino July 26, 2009 took place the IV Italian Championship Cycling Road and Diabetes, Trophy Changing Diabetes 2009. The route has been the most Straducale fund: more than 123km of bike very hard.
On this blog we have followed the event in all its phases by publishing several articles: propose below a summary of all information, referring to the respective sources.
Thanks to all the cyclists who have allowed the execution of this wonderful event that enriches us in heart and a positive witness to the diabetes. Goodbye to the next steps Cycling & Diabetes!
