The World Diabetes Day in Mantua

Mantova in blu per il diabete

Mantua in blue for diabetes

Even this year Mantua is committed to organize the World Diabetes Day 2008, for the last year focused on diabetes in children and adolescents. Several activities have driven the days of 14 and 16 November, bringing the topic of diabetes at the heart of the people, the press and institutions. Of this we must thank the AAGD of Mantua, and with the tireless work of people who are part of has done much for young people with diabetes.

Silvia Donagemma wrote an account of the activities during the day: It is stated in the enthusiasm of a girl with diabetes who participated in person. Here it is: Text on World Diabetes Day 2008 in Mantua .

Simone e Patrizia parlano al Consiglio Provinciale di Mantova

Patrizia Simone and talk to the Provincial Council of Mantua

For a summary of the results obtained successfully in Mantua for diabetes, here is the guide to the topics that Silvia is:

  • the illumination of blue, a symbol of diabetes, several monuments in the historical center of Mantua, as the Lodge of Giulio Romano
  • The celebration and reception at the Provincial Council of Mantua, where they were treated topics of current
  • the information and screening activities in piazzas of the city, and the ceremony with blue balloons with many children
  • the walk for diabetes on the streets of Mantua, namely the Global Diabetes Walk, which saw about 120 people participate well: a symbol of commitment and inspiration to physical activity

I want to conclude by quoting a very important question from the text:

Yes, outwardly we are equal, but if we say we have something changes with diabetes, but ... what?

We can find an answer? ... Anyway, great job, keep so! Happy reading.

La camminata per il diabete a Mantova

The walk for diabetes in Mantua

Today is World Diabetes Day!

Finally arrived on November 14! Today the world is celebrated as World Diabetes Day! And the world turns blue! In fact, the blue is the color of diabetes ...

Il cerchio blu è il simbolo del diabete

The blue circle is the symbol of diabetes

This milestone is an opportunity to increase the general awareness of this problem, capture the attention of the media to properly inform the public, to act on prevention and early diagnosis, present in all people with diabetes positive examples of coexistence . Diabetes is a disease, a condition with which to live.

Unfortunately, the numbers speak of a pandemic on a global scale increasing, with tragic consequences, especially in third world countries who need our help. But even in industrial countries, diabetes is becoming an increasingly costly problem with costs to be incurred, and remain many obstacles to overcome prejudice and. That's why she felt the need to organize the World Diabetes Day

Many events in the Italian cities. In Italy many initiatives have chosen the dates of 15 and 16 November. I've written about in previous articles, but I want to remember the activities in my city in Mantua Sunday there will be a Global Walk for Diabetes, and today will be illuminated in the blue Lodge of Giulio Romano and the adjacent tower. Sunday 16, at 9 am pedaling to attend Changing Diabetes Bike Day in Perugia, a gathering for cyclists with diabetes who will also Assisi. In those days there will be a meeting of the 'Italian Youth Panel and other initiatives in collaboration with Novo Nordisk. But also in many other Italian towns will be organized banks for information and screening, along with other events for diabetes, for example in Trento (city where I study) and Cava de 'Tirreni (as kindly pointed out by a site visitor) .

As you can see the commitment is so: I think the diabetes world is changing for the better. And I still cherish the hope in research, we can ensure a better future in this regard I would like to thank all persons and associations who engage in research, in particular the JDRF. The World Youth Day comes to fruition in a series of events of bygone days as described in previous articles, such as the meeting in Spain, or the one in Budapest, but also that of CONI in Rome on sport.

I can only thank all those who engage in diabetes, and in particular the many visitors of this blog in its first month of life. Good World Diabetes Day to all!! :-D
